HEY YOU! Do you like Peter S. Beagle?!?
Aug. 12th, 2009 05:31 pmYou know, the guy who wrote The Last Unicorn, the screenplay for Ralph Bahkshi's animated The Lord of the Rings, the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'Sarek', the HUGO AWARD WINNING 'Two Hearts'.
That guy.
Ever since Saul Zaentz' company dicked him over back in the 70s regarding the LotR script (which was the direct inspiration for Peter Jackson's recent movies no one's ever seen or that won any Oscars), he's had financial troubles.
YOU can help. Yes, you.
You can go to his official publisher, Conlan Press, and buy whatever strikes your fancy and you can afford. The featured project resembles JoCo's 'Thing a Week', where he's celebrating his 50th year being a professional writer by writing one new thing every week for a year, and you can find out more and subscribe!
Having met Peter at a series of Dragon*Cons, and knowing that he'll be the Author Guest of Honor at ConFusion 2010, I can tell you that he's genuine. A quiet and unassuming gentleman, he's full of stories upon stories, and he's kind and polite and an example to anyone on how awesome a professional can be.
So, if you loved any of his works over the past 50 years, please consider helping him out. Don't buy any of his stuff from any other venues (even Amazon or B&N), because he gets NO ROYALTIES, even tho these are books, DVDs, and whatever else with his name on them. If you were considering something of his for yourself, a friend, or a family member, please only buy it from Conlan Press, so the proceeds go directly to Peter.
Thank you.
